Rape might seem like something that would be a rare occurrence, but scarily it’s not. At some point in their lives, approximately 1 in 5 women will be raped. That’s 20% of all women. To make matters worse, according to the National Sexual Violence Research Center, 51.1% of female rape victims reported being raped by an intimate partner while 40.8% reported being raped by an acquaintance. In 80% of all rape cases, the victim reporting knowing the rapist.
